Dixons Retail (DXNS) makes a splash first and according to its May trading statement, group total and like-for-like sales were down 2% in the full year and 4% in the second half.
It's a quiet day for the corporate calendar today, with just a couple of companies up for the taking.
Dixons Retail (DXNS) makes a splash first and according to its May trading statement, group total and like-for-like sales were down 2% in the full year and 4% in the second half.
"While the electrical space remains tough, we think that the best operators will start to take significant market share, helped by the growing trend seen by Dixons for suppliers to provide increasing support to ensure products have a suitable retail showroom.
"Recognising the strength of the management team and the opportunity for Dixons to take share against weaker competitors, we raised our target price to 18p after the recent analyst visit," said Numis analyst Andrew Wade.
Next up is Norcros (NXR), the owner of Johnson Tiles and Triton Showers. The interim management statement released in April pointed to a strong performance thanks to UK market share gains and operational improvement programmes in South Africa.
At the time, management said it expected group revenues of around £195 million for the 53-week period ended 31 March, representing around 7% growth.
Group trading profit, meanwhile, should be in the region of £11.5 million, up from £7.3 million a year earlier.
Elsewhere, the economic calendar serves up the CBI distributive trades survey which is on track to show a weakening in sales in June as consumers' finances remained under serious pressure and the worry of employment and economy weighed.
"It is apparent that seriously pressurised and worried consumers have put their hands straight back in their pockets having been tempted into temporarily loosening their purse strings in April by the royal wedding, later Easter and very good weather," Howard Archer, chief UK and European economist at IHS Global Insight, said.
